Thanks to all the staff at Blue Island, Especially James who made my first dive seem like a I was a pro, well almost after we worked out a few instruction lessons. The boat ride over to our dive site was most enjoyable driven by Captain Jim who was also very helpful in getting me off the boat into the water and back on.My husband who has dived in Hawaii convinced me to go on a dive with him on this vacation. I have never been diving before, and if you have never had the experience in diving or a lesson and just want to get in the water and see more than snorkling on top go and see James at blue Island. I found him to be very informative about a basic lesson to dive. He watched over me like newborn duckling. Thanks Jim and James for a great time and we will see you all again in St Thomas. And we will be certified next time. The Newbee days are over.I'm going all the way and become a certified diver. By the way I love to snorkel yet when you see the bigger picture of the open ocean from the depths of 40ft it is very beautiful and breath taken and then your hooked. I know I was. Thanks again James and Catain Jim God bless! Chris and June Ring Apopka FL.

Stop. You are on the net looking for great diving. You will waste time looking at other St Thomas websites. (Besides this is the best, their webmaster is brilliant) You are looking for great service, quality gear, well maintained boats and fantastic diving. It is why you went to this log. You want a "SURE THING" right? No, of course my last name is not Cousteau but I do have over 150 open water dives in the Caribbean alone. Aruba, Bimini, Cozumel, Cayman, Florida, Grand Turk, Little Cayman, Roatan, St Martin with big outfits and little shops. Blue Island Divers is the real deal! Write to Bethaney or Deirdre and set something up. They are extremely accommodating and if you are cruise ship diving, your feet never touch land. No cattle boats with 30 divers. They'll pick you up in the dive boat at the end of the pier! Trust me, by then you'll want to break away from your shipmates for a bit and you don't pay the cruise line their cut. (you can use that cash to tip your great divemasters, believe me they will earn it with the level of service you can count on) I could go on about the diving but I swear to you, the descriptions on this website are not embellished in the least. Karen and I intend to go back at the beginning of the off season when the bait fish are running and the big stuff sometimes comes in to chow down. Go dive with these guys, you will be pleased, no that doesn't get it, lets use delighted, no thats not it either. I am going to say - completely and totally satisfied with the people, gear, boats, divesites and the island itself.

I dove on September 20th (2006) and had a blast. I had no plans to dive while on vacation but thankfully I met a fellow diver while on the cruise to St. Thomas that had booked her excursion with Blue Island Divers. At the time I met her she was scheduled to be the only diver so with a little more chatting I said I would take my chances that the boat hadn't filled up. It wasn't until we arrived in port that she was able to get a cell signal and call. Thankfully they had room for one more diver and a snorkel buddy. I can't thank James enough for making me feel so comfortable, making sure my boyfriend felt comfortable with me diving and for Jim making sure the boat didn't get to far from where we all jumped in. The spots we dove were great. Thanks so much & Thanks Debbie for encouraging me to go diving. :)

I dove with Blue Island on Tues 8/29 (noon 2 tank), Wed 8/30 (night 1 tank) & Thurs 8/31 (am 2 tank). I found their service to be outstanding!!! They were prompt when picking me up at the Marriott Pier, they knew the sites well and really helped me grow as a "new" diver. James was not only fun, he was helpful in every way possible. Telling him that I was a "new-bee" only made him more eager to show me new things and make my diving experience unforgettable. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around all that I took in while diving with him. WOW!!! Captain Jim made sure we were on time (pickup/drop off), safely got us to our sites and was there ready to grab our gear when exiting the water. On a whole my dive excursions w/Blue Island may have just ruined future trips with any other dive company. Can't wait to go back and dive with them again!! Many many kudos to James and Jim!!!

We were very pleased with the folks at Blue Island Divers. We brought both a large group of varying experience from a wedding party and a smaller group of experienced divers and both were very happy with the experience. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional and can work with divers of all skill levels. The diving was great and we would recommend them to anyone going to St Thomas.

The only way our family dives is with a private charter - and Blue Island Divers was affordable for our family of 3 divers during the end of July. We did 2 mornings, 2 tank dives with James our dive instructor. He was quite fun and very knowledgeable about our dive sites. Jimmy our skipper was extremely nice. We decided to go back to a dive site we went the day before and the crew was most agreeable. We stored our equipment with them overnight and in the morning upon pick up everything was clean and ready to go. We felt safe and had a great time with James and Jimmy. Thanks guys for a mememorable trip!!!!!!!!

Of all the dive tour operators in St Thomas, Blue Island Divers is by far the best. Starting with punctual and convenient pick-up at the cruise ship pier, to the personalized and friendly service by the crew, to the dive site selection, they are truly in a class by themselves. What favorably impacted me the most was when I asked Dive Master James if we could possibly dive my favorite site, the wreck of the Miss Opportunity, he did not hesitate for one moment and said "sure let's do it". You don't see this type of positive response with most of the dive operators. I will be back with Blue island Divers every time I visit St Thomas. Mario Salcedo

I want to say thanks for a wonderful day. We had 10 people from our group going out from the cruise ship dock. In our group was 7 snorklers ranging from 16 - 68 and 3 certified divers. Your team was fantastic at setting us up, meeting on time, outfitting each person and being sure we had a great time. I have dived in quite a few different places in the carribean but this is the first time I saw such a variety of sealife, incl: Sea Turtles, nurse shark, barracuda, stingrays, squid, puffer fish etc. We had a perfect time and the snorklers up top did also. I recommend you without hesitation and plan to see you next time we are visiting the area. Anyone on a cruise ship should feel very comfortable with booking with your very professional, knowledgeable and fun team. See you again soon.

It was a pleasure to dive with Blue Island Divers. I was picked up at the dock of the hotel which is a real plus when the cruise ships are in town and traffic is awful. The dive sites were wonderful as was the service. My gear was cleaned by them and kept overnight for the next day of diving. When I got on the boat again, my gear was ready for me to dive. I would definitely use them again when I return to St. Thomas.

My wife and I arrived at St. Thomas on July 25, 2006 as a port stop on our 7 day cruise. I was so impressed with all of the "pre-dive" information - everything was layed out exactly as informed - the dive boat arrived on time and James (divemaster) and the crew gave us a wonderful time. I particularly enjoyed the trip through the barges - it has prompted me to know that my next advancement will be wreck diving. Thanks again for the great time - I would recommend Blue Island Divers anytime ! ~ Jim Stevens

Thanks guys! Awesome trip. We spanned the spectrum in experience in our group, from brand new OW divers to an Instructor and James and Jimmy treated us like royalty on each and every dive (which was awesome by the way). New friends, I hope to run into them again one day. Jimmy, keep that mooring open beside yours, OK? From Brent, Tracy, Jay, Jacqui, and Nick - THANKS!

We had a great tme diving with Blue Island Divers two days. The first day my dad did a discover scuba diving and they were great with him. The next day my husband and I did our deep advanced dive. I was a little nervous but they were patient with me and it was the best dive I have ever done. There were few people on the boat whcih made it easy to get around and we didn't feel rushed. The water was warm, upper 70's to low 80's. We will definately use them again when we go back to St. Thomas

The diving experience with Blue Island was excellent. We did a reef dive and then a wreck dive. Ian was a great diver master. Our boat only had 5 of us diving, which was perfect. I was on a cruise and had the option to book a dive excurion through the cruise line. I'm so glad that I did not!! I watched the cruise passengers get onto their dive boats at the dock. They were using two boats and loaded 14-16 people on EACH one!!! Booking my own 1/2 day excursion on-line with Blue Island was definitely the way to go. Next time you are planning a trip to St. Thomas, look them up. I know I will!! Thanks guys!!

Had a great time diving while docked on our cruise. We dove Tank Reef and the Navy Barges. The barges were awesome. We got to swim through them and saw tons of colorful fish and corals. Felt safe the entire dive and we got to stay down until our air was low (45-60min of diving). Very easy to find the dock from the ship--will definitely dive with them again the next time we're in St. Thomas!

Myself and another experienced diver made arrangements to dive through BID while in port w/ a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. The dive boat picked us up at the pier/dock and then dropped us back off at this location. We did not even need to travel to the dive shop for payment or processing (since we made reservations online prior to the trip). The diving was great- saw Barracuda, French Angelfish, a Spotted Eagle Ray, a Green Turtle, Porcupinefish and others. Two tank dive consisted of a large wreck (called 'Concrete') and a reef dive. The divemaster and pilot were friendly and professional and provided for a great way to see St. Thomas. PS- Try the Green Room (in town) after the diving for hydrating and a good atmosphere.

This was the only scuba service that offered to pick us up and return us to the dock by our cruise ship. The others said a cab would be necessary. There were only four of us on the dive boat. The rental equipment was just great. The dive master and boat driver were courteous and knowledgeable. We were back to our ship before lunch having had two very good dives.

Have recommended BID to others... James and Ian were professional and easy to work with. I will book with them the next time I am in St. Thomas.

I had an excellent time on this time. The crew was extremely professional. I was staying on the island and had been trying to find a dive shop that was located close, but wasn't on the other side of the island and I found it. I would absolutly dive with BID again in the future. I would recommend it for anyone that want's to dive on a boat that isn't swimming with tourists and doesn't pack you in with sardines. There were 8 divers on the boat and that was good enough for a guided tour of a wreck. I really can't wait to come back.

Dove w/ Blue Island for the second time from a Princess cruise ship. Was great how they picked us up and dropped us at the dock. Again, very friendly, had a nice dive, was well taken care of, and they did not give me a rough time as this was my first dive in about 1 year though my open water certification belies my over 200 dive experience. Saw big turtle, octopus, and great reef life. Thanks for a great time and look forward to doing it again!

Took a Royal Caribbean cruise to St. Thomas. Had same experience as everyone else listed on this site- saw all the cruise cattle go to boats with TONS of people on them. Then we saw our boat, and our 4 others we were diving with. Great experience, would highly recommend. They were willing to go through extra steps for us as well. Thanks!!!!

What a wonderful dive experience! Blue Island Divers worked with us to set up 2 afternoon dives in St. Thomas on Wednesday, March 22nd. We went to two different wreck sites that were great to swim through. We saw a lot of sting rays, colorful Queen Angels, as well as other fish, spiny lobster and the most laid back turtle ever! The boat met us at the pier, the equipment was ready to go and James and Ian were very friendly and helpful. The whole process was very easy. I highly recommend Blue Island Divers.

Our family booked a dive trip with Blue Island Divers during our cruise to St. Thomas. We were on the Caribbean Princess and docked at 7a.m. We were met right under the nose of our ship and off we went. It was so convenient. Most of the divers from the ship were lined up waiting for the dive trip they booked from the ship. It looked like such a madhouse. The 4 of us were thrilled to just hop aboard our own private dive. The captain and the dive master were very professional and everything was already set up for us on the boat. We didn't have to go very far, maybe 10 minutes to our dive site. The dive was really wonderful. We swam among sharks, spotted eels, stingrays, barracudas, squid and many other colorful fish. We went on 2 reef dives and enjoyed them both. I would definately recommend them and I would suggest using them if you are coming from a cruise ship. We had a great time and look forward to diving with them again....thanks

James gave us 2 great dives when we were down there in July. His expertise and knowledge of both Spratt's Point and the naval barges was wonderful. He also assisted my daughter in completing her final checkout dive. We will be back again in Fe. and I am in the process of booking you again (hopefully getting James again).

Just got back from St.Thomas and had the opportunity to dive with Blue Island divers. We booked through there web site and they responded quickly. We arrived via a cruise ship and they met us as planned. I dove with my wife and 12 year old son and they were able to accommodate all our needs as planned. We had a great dive master (Lureen? spelling) and she took good care of us. I would not hesitate to use their services again especially from a cruise ship. Only 6 divers to the boat , Nice! Thanks again folks and I'll see you again next November!

11/16/2005 Chartered with Blue Island Divers. St. Thomas - Dive #1 was a beautiful coral reef called REEF Bowl. Depth = 67 ft, Vis = 75ft, Water temp = 80 degrees F. Saw a parrot fish, baby sea turtle (I told the kids it was "Crush" from Finding Nemo) and lots of other sea life. Dive #2 - My first Wreak dive. Navy Barges - Depth 40 ft. Vis was poor (8-10 ft), sandy bottom. It was 2 old WWII barges that were sunk in the late forties. Although the surrounding water was murky, it did clear up once inside the vessels. Saw a barracuda, giant lobster and a small ray. First time I have ever done a wreak, so it was a little spooky going through the holes that had been blown through the ship, but we had a great dive master\guide who took everything very slow and made it very enjoyable. __________________ Boingophreak

We dove with Blue Island Divers during our cruise aboard the Caribbean Princess. The were just six of us that went diving, three couples. We were meet just a short distance from where the cruise ship docked and were meet by Lauren and Jimmy. They took us to the Navy barges dive site. Lauren was our dive master. She was great! My wife and I had only dove twice before in the ocean. She was very kind and reassuring. Jimmy was the captain of the ship. We suited up and jumped in. Lauren was right there to guide us around. We saw lots of different fish and sea creatures. It was a great site. Even with another BID group there we still were able to follow Lauren around and see lots of different things. After a slow and very wavy ride to the next dive site, we finally got back in the water. My wife and a friend were quite sick on the way over. While on the way, Lauren explained more about the things we had just seen and did some preliminary explaining about the reef dive we were about to do. The reef dive was great too. Lots of things to see. About half way through the dive, we saw a Nurse Shark. WOW!! Amazingly graceful and sleek. Being a first time diver, I was taken aback at how beautiful and large the creature was! Awesome even at a distance of 20 to 30 feet. Lauren was all excited and gave us hurried signals so we didn't miss it. Did I mention Lauren was awesome!?! Finally we were finished with the dive and returned to the surface and Jimmy waiting to help us aboard. My second ocean dive is one I will never forget and our thanks go to Lauren and Blue Island Divers. When we go back to St Thomas, we will dive with BID again and request to dive with Lauren!!!

We booked our dives with Blue Island Diver's instead of through the cruise ship. All of which was done via e-mail. Our dives with Blue (Island) was exactly what we requested. We had 4 certified divers and 1 snorkeller and wanted to do shallow dives for our 70+ year old snorkeler and that is exactly what they provided. They picked us up just as stated in their web site. Blue island communication was fantastic and kept me informed throughout the booking process. We will definitely return to Blue Island Diver's when we return to St. Thomas.

We were diverted to St Thomas due to Hurricane Wilma and had to scramble to find diving. We sent an email from the cruise ship and you responded immediately. This was Bills first time diving St Thomas and my second. We went to new dive sites and we had beautiful dives and great service. I highly recommend your facility to all divers. We teach in Utah so we will recommend you to all of the divers that we send your way. Your team was AWESOME.... Thanks again Bill and Robyn Burton

This was my wife and I first time visiting St. Thomas. We chose Blue Island Divers after hearing so many horror stories regarding cattle boat with about 40 or so divers. Blue Island Divers had a small boat with about 6 or 8 divers, with 3 employees. The employee was wonderful, taking the time to help us find the various sea lifes that exist underwater. Diving in St. Thomas was our first time ever to experience an open water in the ocean. We had only dived in lakes. The dive master was kind enought to show us the eel, turle, various kinds of sea life. All i can say is that these dives were AWESOME... They were wonderful to dive with.. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Way to go guys and gals, and keep up the wonderful experience of open water diving. We would do it again... I also wanna send a shout out to RED, since hes from the good ole state of Georgia.

Great dives, service was spectacular! We swam with turtles, saw the normal culprits, and saw a SEA HORSE. For a California diver this was a great way to dive the last stop of our cruise. My two sons and I will visit this dive operator again!

I was not impressed at all with the dives we did. We had very inexperienced people mixed with experienced people. I was kicked or bumped inot a few times along with my girlfriend. We did a wreck as the first dive and a diver doing his checkout dives who was having bouyancy issues and finally we stayed above the others not to get injured. Our second dive was deeper than out first which goes against all the dive training I have had. The divemaster was a fill in and a good guy but was clueless about the group and what to do. We were supposed to have Deirdra whic she told me herself but had gone to the Coco's islands to dive while we were there. We were supposed to dive 2 more days with ya'll but opted to go to some one else who ran a more professional operation. I felt I wasted my money but paid for the time anyway. Thanks for trying, Bob Lipkind

We had an easy time of it. Just show up on the dock (next to the cruise ship). Equipment was ready, we were half way to the dive site, all we had to do was show our dive card and get in the boat. The guides were as knowledable, friendly and helpful as one could possibly ask for. I would recommend Blue Island to anyone who wants a good dive experience in St Thomas.

Blue Island were awesome. From emailing and setting up my trip, to diving and finishing my open water Certs. James was a great instructor, enthusiastic and attentive. My boyfriend has been certified for years and we both had a great trip. We'll always dive with Blue Island whenever in St. Thomas.

My friend and I completed our last two certification dives with Blue Island in September while on a cruise. After seeing the number of people on the cruise ship dive boats, I was quite relieved to see the small group size with Blue Island Divers and glad I didn't book through the cruise ship. The dive master we dove with was great and showed us a lot of interesting things. I will definitely use this company again if I travel to St. Thomas again.

Really enjoyed my dives with Blue Island. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Small groups, very professional service. Picked us up right at the Marriott pier. Definitely recommend them to others.

We had a great dive with Blue Island. We were a little spoiled though, as it was just our family of four on the dive boat that day! What a great experience it was. And my wife got to see a large sea turtle, the one species she has missed in all of our dives! Thanks again and we hope to see you soon. Doug Birkby

Had a great time diving. Customer service was good and the boat and crew were terrific. Diving was close and the combination of reefs and wrecks was awesome. See you next trip!

My son and I dove with Blue Island Divers. These guys are the absolute best. We also dove the Bahamas during the same trip. There was no comparison in the superior service that we got from Blue Island Divers. They were friendly. They let us help decide where to dive. The equipment we rented was very nice. Their service was outstanding. They even waited for us when we were late getting off the cruise ship (don't know if they can always do that). We enjoyed this so much. We dove a reef and a ship wreck. They took us inside the ship. Would recommend these guys to everyone. Thanks for such a great time!

Used the PADI website and found BID after our cruise ships dive excursion was booked up. It was a good break for us. Our first dives could not have been any better than they were. Jim and James were a lot of fun. I will dive with BID if ever in St. Thomas again.

Scoped-out the dive operators via the web and called BID once in St. Thomas. Staying at the Marriott which meant I had to do all the arrangements over the phone (gear, p/u, payment, etc). Couldn't have been better/easier. Ian worked with me and diving with Capt Jim and Deirdra and the other (4) guests was great; they even got a night dive together when I mentioned I would like one. It's the personal attention and small group that I believe divers are looking for (along with turtles, eagle rays, drums, etc). You guys are what we're looking for, thanks.

My wife, newly certified 13 year old daughter, and I dove three days with Ian and Capt. Jim and had a terrific time. We particularly appreciated the small groups on the boat, the convenience of being picked up at the Marriott dock, and arriving with all of the rental equipment we had requested all set up. But most importantly Ian led us on six very nice dives that were appropriate for our newby and interesting for the rest of us as well. Jim was very helpful getting us organized and taking care of getting us to great spots. From online booking to our final wave goodbye this outfit was absolutely first rate -- professional, personable, and fun. If we come to St Thomas again Blue Island is where we will book. Thanks again to Ian and Jim

| I thank my lucky stars I booked independently with you guys instead of the cattle-boat offered by Holland America. Only six divers, beautiful dive boat, professional/courteous divemasters, great site(s) and conditions... I couldn't ask for anything more. Next time I'm in St. Thomas you will absolutely get my business! Only next time I'll re | |
