Aug 2007 DVDiveguide produces LST DVD
Following our successful LST-467 family reunion Steve Wishard of DVDiveguide has produced a DVD chronicling the reunion event and the history of this fascinating warship.
Some previews from the DVD are available online at the links below. ![]() ![]() When the planning for that final day was in the early stages, Aitch asked DVDiveGuide to document the story. We gladly accepted the challenge. When completed, DVDiveGuide produced a 4 Disc DVD set for everyone who participated in the journey. 2 of the discs from that set have been packaged separately, titled Discover LST-467 and are now available to the general public. Discover LST-467 contains six individual features each of which both stand on their own and complete one part of the overall history of this decorated ship. Interviews with Aitch and 3 of the veterans who served aboard the ship provide a deep insite into history of this ship. Archival footage combined with computer animation will show you how these ships worked and what a marvel of buoyancy control they were. Matching footage from LST-467 and LST-325, a working WWII LST in Evansville In. will give you a unique at the ship then and now. Finally, a complete tour of LST-325, given by war veterans who served aboard these ships, will complete the picture as you learn what it was like to live and fight aboard an LST. So pick up your copy and join us as we Discover LST-467. 5 miles off the coast of St Thomas in the USVI, sitting upright on the bottom, in 90 feet of water, LST-467 serves as both shelter to a variety of marine life and memorial to millions of men and women, who like this ship, served our country with distinction during WWII. Harrison ‘Aitch' Liddle, owner of Blue Island Divers in St Thomas, spent several years researching the ship, know locally as the WIT Shoal II, trying to learn her true identity. One day at Lloyds, just as Aitch had decided he would probably never succeed, a chance peek in an obscure journal sent Aitch's quest down a completely different path. A path that would ultimately lead to one final day in St Thomas. A day during which 2 WWII veterans, 30 plus family members, 3 camera teams, 2 dive boats, 1 submarine, 4 years of research and 6 months of planning all converged on the surface just above the ship.
